«« Xochimilco»»»

$290.00 USD

Come and have fun in the famous "Floating Gardens" made by the ancient inhabitants of the south basin of Mexico, who transformed lagoons, swamplands and marshes into areas of agricultural production with canals that help transporting products. We’ll take a boat ride through the canals in a colorful and decorated “trajinera” that is propelled with a long wooden pole, where you'll enjoy a floating party while vendors in other boats offer flowers, food, music and souvenirs. Xochimilco, "land sown with flowers", is 28 kilometers south of the city center and is a favorite Sunday and holiday excursion point. It was declared a World Heritage site by UNESCO in 1987. Lake Xochimilco is the only habitat for the critically endangered Axolotl salamander. The borough also has a number of nature reserves including the Xochimilco Ecological Reserve. This tour can be extended with the Coyoacan Tour or Dolores Olmedo Museum.
